Cobalt wins by combining energy pressure with recoverable shields. Energy attacks build Overload until a target detonates around nearby enemies, while Shield Generators let your force recover some damage between battles. Protect those generators, then use Energy Lab tech and Cobalt relics to turn safe pressure into chained bursts.

Build around Overload, not random energy ships
Official faction notes say Energy weapons build Overload on targets; reaching the threshold triggers an energy explosion around that ship. That makes target focus important: spreading too much damage can delay the payoff, while finishing an Overload target in a cluster can multiply value.
Shield Generators are infrastructure, not invulnerability
Cobalt squadrons and stations are described as naturally more fragile, with Shield Generators compensating by protecting the fleet and replenishing between individual battles. Enemy forces can destroy those generators, so do not place your whole defensive plan where one flank collapse removes it.
Know the two named Cobalt ships
These are faction signatures, not a complete Cobalt ship list. Early Access is expected to expand unit variety, so keep this guide tied to the current launch window.
| Ship | Official identity | Practical role |
|---|---|---|
| Leviathan | Heavy specialist with point-defense cannons and Death Ray | Anchor / anti-pressure specialist; protect it while it delivers high-value ability windows. |
| Burster | Agile assault ship described as a shotgun in space | Close-range burst; use movement and timing rather than asking it to tank sustained fire. |
Relics that naturally fit Cobalt
Snowglobe now heals units while their shields recharge, so it lines up directly with Cobalt’s shield cycle. Starting-squadron relics such as Deathslug can still pull you toward a weapon-specific build when the opening squadron matches the condition.
